I don’t know about you but I would not have thought there was an active market and coffee vans for sale but I was proved wrong when I started writing this article.
There is even an active website which is a coffee vans for sale classifieds style site with vans for sale. There are ads for mobile coffee vans, mobile coffee carts and mobile coffee Utes. This is an Australian based website but it is unclear where specifically they are located but the advertising seemed to cover Australia wide advertising selling coffee vans. An affiliated website was also linking called custom coffee vans which you can find here.
On the website there were around 18 coffee vans for sale at the time of writing and these range in price from the low $30,000 to nearly $100,000 as listing prices.
One angle that people start out with is looking at an existing franchise network. There are franchises that are listed online such as espresso to go (mobile cafe).
There was limited information on their website when I checked have they do often intensive nine-day barista course as well is unlimited on-site training in the defined area of the franchisee.
A second company worth making enquiries to for serious about buying such a business is Coffee Bella. This company deals with coffee and food vans, coffee trailers and coffee carts. Coffee trolleys from $12,500 plus GST.
The head office for the company is in Queensland Sunshine Coast but they do have offices in Sydney, Perth, Melbourne and Darwin. This is a mobile catering vehicle fabrication company also run by Coffee Bella. there are pictures of different designs and styles of coffee vans on this website.
You’re probably thinking $12,500 is a lot to pay for a coffee cart and maybe there is an opportunity to buy secondhand but these will need more time and patience to find. So really it’s your opportunity cost you pay for something new and you get an upfront otherwise you have to wait to find something secondhand and try negotiate a bargain on it else buy everything and construct the business yourself.
Where else can you look online to buy a coffee vans for sale?
You can make enquiries with business brokers and/or look on business for sale websites. There are many online but there may not be listings at the time of looking offering coffee vans for sale although it’s worth checking and even placing an alert system where you emailed a listing if they can come up and if you can do that.
One website that has business listings online includes bsale and these had a franchise known as cafe2u advertised and were offering vans for sale in Perth and Brisbane for around $110/ 115K.
Gumtree is a free classifieds website and was also offering the cafe2U franchise vans which were established in some cases for some years by the sellers.
it may be worth placing free ads in the wanted section because you never know who might be looking as I found selling stuff and wanting stuff to buy people are looking on gumtree.
When buying your first business as a whole there’ll be a lot of questions that need to be asked whether buying a coffee van is worth the risk and exercise.
A franchise is one of the easiest ways to get in and up and running quickly.
By the franchise versus building a van run yourself , its said a franchise you have:
1. On time delivery and fitout
2. Full warranty and support on equipment and machines.
3. Fully meet and exceed HACP and Health standards.
4. Training manual, advice and operating guides from experienced team.
5. Package deals for fitout for your existing or new van that will cost you less then you doing it by yourself due to purchasing power and experience with building.
6. Contacts for sign writing, public liability and finance.
7. Guaranteed fixed budget with no budget blowouts.
This was a contact from a person posting on a forum back in 2010 based in Queensland who provided some good points as to buy a coffee business. He is an agent but may be worth talking to: Roger Bright – Supreme Roasters

And remember running a coffee van business does require a lot of hard work before outlaying any capital, do your due diligence.
