Best Micro Car in Australia for under $20K

For the second year in a row, the Mitsubishi Mirage ES has taken the title for scoring in value for money.

The price for this car comes in at $14,973 driveway.  I know there’s some of you that may prefer to buy something secondhand for similar money with a bigger motor and a bit of depreciation taken off the new car price, these are the choices you will have to weigh up.

Some of the favourable standouts are the repair costs, new car warranty, and running costs. The Mirage is a leader when it comes to its tiny 3cyl engine using regular unleaded fuel and a great fuel consumption saver.

A great car for city buyers as it is affordable to buy, but there is more, it offers you a great driving experience as well. The vehicles easy to drive and the engine are responsive and flexible.  With the 1.2L petrol engine it produces 56kW and 100Nm of torque, and available with a 5sp manual transmission.

At an extra cost you can opt for a CVT, however, the available ES spec is generous with the:

  • Driver’s seat height adjustment,
  • Air conditioning with pollen filter,
  • Powered windows,
  • Keyless central locking,
  • Electrical steering, and
  • Bluetooth phone connectivity with audio streaming and voice control

Nevertheless, if you are in need of a higher-spec car the ES has a Mirage LS model that comes with higher costs that include

  • Alloy wheels,
  • Fog lights,
  • Climate-control air-conditioning, and
  • Cruise control to name a few

Moreover, for peace of mind, the Mirage has a 5-year/100,000km warranty included.

Interior design of the Mirage

The Mirage ES has plenty of room in the front making your driving as comfortable as possible, however, the rear space is challenging. Where the car has little rear space it makes up for the split-fold rear seat increasing the load area, but so do the most other competitors in this class do as well.

The wheel well offers you enough space to accommodate an extra wheel and the best of all it has one available not found in any other micro class. The Mirage has a 5-year Australian New Car Assessment Program safety rating is zippy, easy to drive, easy to park, has great fuel consumption, and affordable to buy.

If you have a tight, budget and in need of a car then look no further than the best Micro Car in Australia for under $20,000. The Mitsubishi Mirage ES is a standout in the ABS testing.
